Ronald Urvater is a general partner of MAPS Capital Management. He is a seasoned seed and venture capital investor, helping early stage technology companies move to commercialization and exits. His current focus is on renewable energy and environmental practices. He continues to invest in biotechnology, the life sciences and internet media.
Starting his career at Allen and Co.., Inc. in 1987 Ronald founded Capital Partners a seed capital fund to organize and finance early stage ventures in the Life Sciences and Information Technology. Since inception Capital Partners has invested in financed over $150mm for early stage companies. The investment group maintains relationships with several world class venture capital firms both in the U.S and Europe. Companies for which he has served as a founder and/or Director include: OSI Pharmaceuticals, Celldex Therapeutics, Inc. (formerly T Cell Sciences, Inc.), CHSI,. Quantum Biosciences, Conform, StegoSystems, AdEcn, Eyeweb, Circa and several other private companies. Since 2005 Ronald manages a fund, Ormed Capital LLC, focused on emerging public companies in the Life Sciences. Returns have been above average based on an intensive due diligence process approach to investing applied to smaller public companies. Investments are concentrated in 6 to 8 core holdings as part of an event driven investment strategy. In January 2011, Ron became a founding partner of Leviathan Bio Pharma Group, dedicated to the commercialization of pharmaceuticals and biologics for clinical development.
