David Traub is an associate partner at MAPS Capital Management. He brings to MAPS Social Media over 25 years of global experience as a venture catalyst and media educator; as a business and economic development executive, consultant, speaker, investor and/or board member/advisor to over 35 startup, early stage and multi-national and government entities; as an award-winning executive producer of multiple commercial digital media and mobile products and content; and as a philanthropist. Over the years, he has initiated, co-raised and deployed more than $20 million in venture finance.

David is an author of nearly 50 articles and reports on the evolution of the digital domain, mobile learning, interactive education and economic development for trade publications, professional books and institutional clients such as The Ontario Ministry of Culture, NTT-Docomo, Microsoft Press and Carnegie-Mellon University; and is a speaker who has given more than 60 high profile speeches throughout the world for clients or sponsors such as the EU; the King of Sweden; the Swedish, Danish, Canadian, ROC and French Governments; the National Institute of Film in Denmark; TV Globo (Brazil); Viacom; Mercedes/Siebold and numerous other economic development agencies, universities, corporations and educational associations (e.g., MLearn, WMTE Mobile and Wirelesss Learning, etc.)

As a philanthropist David Traub is co-founder of Unity For Foundation (www.unityfor.org), an ethically directed, non-profit developing a “100% financially transparent” community of philanthropy powered by annual global rock concerts. Premiering this last March at Hollywood’s House of Blues, the Foundation'sfirst major event is a globally broadcast Peace concert tentatively schedule in the Middle East in 2012.

David's other non-profit activities include an educational fellowship with the philanthropic venture entity (2008-2010)Full Circle Fund.

David earned a Masters in Education in 1990 from Harvard University with a focus on optimizing economic and career development and “human capital” via entertainment interfaces/informal media, while conducting simultaneous class-work at the MIT Media Lab and Harvard’s Business School. In 1984 he earned his undergraduate degrees in rhetoric and film with honors from the University of California at Berkeley.

David has produced, consulted on, written, or spoken for, and/or co-developed new media, business, and economic development projects for or with an extensive range of global Fortune 500 corporate, government, education and institutional entities.
