School Powers uses advanced, state of the art, financial models to best leverage the financing internal rate of returns for investors. The models incorporate utility power provider agreements, tax incentives and energy rebates by state as well as solar equipment costs for each project.

SurveySolar™ is our unique automated solution for solar PV assessment providing all necessary data to drive the pro forma calculation of solar energy requirements and project financing.

Pic 2 Our technology - SurveySolar™ uses high-resolution images from satellite and airborne platforms with advanced image analysis algorithms developed for the intelligence services.

Images are processed to render the necessary color formats, then geographically referenced and cataloged by solar survey for a geographical area.

Each image is automatically scanned using edge detection and surface algorithms to isolate roof surfaces from surrounding areas. A potential roof surface in an image is isolated and a perimeter calculation establishes a measure of the total roof area.

Within this roof area, the solar analyzer looks for changes in pitch in one or more roof segments, indicating a non-flat surface. Further analysis compares the roof surface reflectance against known surface types to detect the composition (metal, tile, clay, asphalt).

SurveySolar™ has been validated with numerous onsite physical inspections, accurate within 98 percent of area measurements and 99 percent in calculating solar photovoltaic energy potential for a site.

SurveySolar™ was also instrumental in the  Department of Energy awarding the first "Solar America" grant to the nonprofit KyotoUSA foundation promoting the conversion of schools to solar power.

As of 2009, over 500 survey projects were completed in Sonoma, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties in California. In 2010, new school projects will be undertaken in Missouri, Hawaii and California.
