Our service model is simple - at no capital cost - provide renewable energy using solar power
to participating school districts. Under a power provider agreement (PPA),
we deliver solar power to replace a major portion of a school's electrical power needs.
Each school however, is equipped with enough solar panels to meet double their energy requirements.
2X service Model - By doubling the power capacity, each school gets the benefit of solar energy to meet all its electrical needs while sending back an equivalent amount of power back to the utility, who in turn pays an agreed upon, long term contract cost per kilowatt delivered.
During the term of the contract (from 15 to 20 years), a school pays for power produced by the solar system at competitive rates and also pays for power generated by the utility during non-solar periods.
The excess solar generated power that is unused by the school is priced to the utility, either under a State regulated feed in tariff, or under a contract PPA with School Powers. A portion of this revenue is accrued in a not for profit fund and periodically disbursed to participating schools.
What we do
- Finance each school solar project
- Assess solar potential of school buildings
- Select qualifying schools for solar installations
- Contract with our solar installation partners
- Provide project management on each project
- Contract with utilities for pricing of energy contracts
- Maintain and service the installation during life of system
